Okay ill be fair, this might be my favourite coffee shop in Tel Aviv only because I'm a bit obsessed with the Asian coffee culture. After all, I've discovered my love for speciality coffee on my trip to Japan. There is something about the perfectionist minimalistic approach to coffee there that just make so much seance to me.
When you order a cup of coffee in HOC you know you are going to get the perfect cup of coffee, for the simple reason that they won't serve you any less than that, everything about this place is spot on from the design to the coffee itself.
And that what I love about it :)
In one of my visits, I ordered the Colombia Bolivar Region pour-over. I usually find neutral pressed coffee unpleasantly sour if not treated well, from the process itself to the roasting and even the brewing, it all must be perfect for it to be enjoyable.
lm happy to report that in this case, the cup of coffee I had was above and beyond perfect. It had a soft nice fruity acidity (that I've thought resembled the sourness of a pineapple) but it was also perfectly sweet and very smooth!
As goes for espresso drinks, I have no complines! first of all, they had oatmilk!!! (for some unknown reason it's not popular in Israel so that was very exciting!) I ordered a flat white and it was perfect! It wasn't too bitter or too sour or overly sweet, but it also wasn't boring! It was very rich in flavour but also very light and easy to drink.
And can we just talk about this perfect glass!
I've also tried their matcha latte, they serve the well respected Matchaeologist Meiko matcha. The matcha itself has a robust body, sweet-savoury undertones and a bouquet of floral notes. Unfortunately, it was a bit too light for me. For there defence, I like my matcha extremely dark! With three times the amount of matcha powder most people use!
Food-wise, They sell a verity of baked goods from the amazing Swedish bakery Fika. All I can say is that the warm pistachio bun that I had was so good I almost cried when I realised id probably never taste it again! The dough was so soft and pillowy, hagging the lightly sweeten pistachio filling in the most delightful way.
They are located here, and you can follow theme on Instagram and Facebook, If you are looking for more information you can check their website :)
